Almera sump pan removal

Has anyone had any experience of removing the sump pan from an N16 Almera 1.5?
I have removed all the bolts with just the sealant holding it on, but it won't budge. I've used a specialist gasket removal tool, it is really difficult to find space to jam it in, then there is limited room to use a hammer, the tool bends, but the sump stays put. I've tried gentle persuasion with screwdrivers, hammers etc., all to no avail. I have got a new pan to fit so I'm not worried about damaging the old pan. Any ideas would be welcome.

Yep i've removed one.

Yeah they can take a bit of getting off from the block, sounds like you're doing the rights things it's just a matter keep persevering, take care not to damage the block where the sump seals too.Think i got mine loosened from the front corner first.

Thanks for your replies. I eventually got it off. The specialist gasket separator I purchased from ebay was a complete waste of time, it bent straight away. I purchased a good quality steak knife, and a range of door card pullers. Using the lip on the front of the sump , I prized as much as I could with the puller, hammered the knife into the gap and sawed as far as I could in each direction. Eventually I managed to get the damned thing off!

Sorry about hijacking this thread but think the Sump needs changing on a 1.5 N16 that I'm thinking about purchasing (Oil leak)
How easy is it to access all the bolts for the sump. Are any bolts hidden behind stuff, sub frame etc, or are they all reasonably accessible.
As per above, the fun seems to start when you have removed the bolt and have to attack the gasket.
Thanks in

All bolts are accessible.Having a thin extension helps especially when undoing the ones near the bellhousing.
