Engine error codes P340 & P1614

Hi,

I'm a newbe on here.
My check engine light came on, did a quick check & these codes came back.

P340 & P1614. Done a quick search on the web & found a few answers. Can anyone advise on these please, also what the average cost to fix.

N15 Almeras need the 14-pin Nissan Consult reader. Bluetooth and USB versions are available on eBay. You can use ECUtalk as software or a suitable Android app if you opt for the bluetooth version and use your phone.

The later N16 Almera like the OP has uses regular OBD2 iirc.


P0340 indicates a crank/camshaft sensor fault. This could be either a defective sensor or more likely the timing chain has stretched.

P1614 indicates a problem with NATS immobilizer. Can't remember what the "usual" troublemaker is, I keep thinking of the part that goes around the ignition key barrel, which reads the chip on the actual key. If this is the case I remember it being not too expensive.
