ALmera paint colour

Hi guys I've just aquired a lovely Nissan Almera 1.5 SE on an X plate 2000. The car had a particularly nasty spot of rust on the boot/hatch which i have repaired. The colour code on the vin plate is listed as BT3, however i have had trouble finding a paint to match, Halfords mixed up a can of BT3 but it is very dark and doesnt match at all. The colour is a kinda bluey/green metallic does anyone know what this colour is called i have found several colours listed under the BT3 code including blue green metallic, ocean blue etc. Apologies for rambling any help greatly appreciated. Ta

Sounds like Tornado Grey to me.

Edit: this is Tornado Grey..

Edit: Tornado Grey is BW3. BT3 is Aquamarine Blue, much darker.

In my experience halfrauds are crap at mixing paint. Go to a proper shop and get a good mix made. The paints are made to a recipie just like making a cake. If the person making it is rubbish, the end product is rubbish. Halford in my experience employ gneral people who arent specialised. Go to a proper place who specialise in paint, you wont go far wrong mate. Paint does fade over time as well (red is fastest fading for some reason). So, to blend it in, before sprayin area, use G3 compound and clean approx from edge of spray area 6 inches with compound then spray and coumpound entire area again including spray area if your doing it yourself at home. This helps blend. Im not a sprayer by trade or anything but this has worked for me in the past.

^ This. Metallic paint is tricky and Halfords are not paint specialists.

I'm pretty sure that's aquamarine blue in your pic. Matches the BT3 paint code.

Go to Nissan, their sprays aren't overly expensive and you know its the right colour.

Hadn't even thought of that. Do that. I got touchup paint from Nissan for my Tornado Grey N16 and it was spot on and almost as cheap as Halfords.

Funny how some things (paint, wiper arms) they have a decent price and others (rocker cover bolts) are insane.

car in my icon thing is bt-3,and looking at your picture i'd say yours is too..nissan touchup was as close as you'll find i reckon.if they no longer do it I may still have it in the shed.I seem to remember mine just being classed as the blue green metallic even though it looked purple-ish at some angles.

always the same for some reason..same with Skoda when i needed new rear shocks for fabia-geniune was £4 a pair more than best motor factor price and 20 quid less than euro car parts.
