Damn, you're half a second faster down the strip than me with similar power. What's going on!

gear ratios and tyre/wheel size play a part in 1/4 times, how do the ga ratios compare to the gti's? and what size wheels?

Comparing gti ratios to ga16 ratios at 7000rpm they're pretty much level pegging. 205 45 16.
However I'm doubting the rev limit, mapping graph shows a 6800 limit, I was told 7 but it hits the limiter at 7 on the rev counter. No way is it that accurate.
Got an ecu talk module to plug in soon though

Heh. Thanks, but I don't have the depth of imagination or talent to write more than a couple of mildly amusing forum posts a year.

Probably more than enough, though, to write a sort-of-porny Mills and Boon naughty enough to get free publicity from the papers but dull enough to sit on the shelves in ASDA.

Better add some angsty celibate teenage wizzards to be safe.

And angsty, celibate teenage vampires.

Win.

Oh, wait.. I couldn't resist putting some classic Jap car action in it which would alienate the middle-aged frustrated cat lady audience and totally bugger my chances of a bestsel.. I mean.. 'life changing literary masterpiece'.

As for TV there would be a limited audience for the "Drives to work for an hour, types for 8 hours, drives home for an hour, cooks dinner and sits in front of the telly with a glass of wine for five hours trying to find something worth watching" show.

I'd have to get a pejazzle and have a random tantrum every day just to make it appealing to the British viewing public and I'm allergic to glitter and too tired most of the time to look convincingly annoyed at anything short of nuclear armageddon occurring after I've finished doing the damn dishes.

I'd better stick to the occasional rambling forum post.

Winter has not been kind. Engine bay looks like shit.

There is a feeling.. that odd "something is not right" feeling you notice when you spend 3 hours a day in your car.

Think the nearside rear piston is underperforming. Coilovers and bankruptcy looms large.

That said the Uniroyal Rainsports are awesome and after a blast round the backroads I managed a 3 mile straight without touching the wheel at 8.. er.. 70 with no drama. These things are scarily well made.

My mechanics recon I should scrap it and get something newer, better and more reliable.

I say that's a contradiction.

Wow its been a long time since you updated this thread! Lol

I've noticed mine showing that on a few posts, its not a consistent bug though.

Well. Hate hate hate to say it but circumstances are what they are and I've got another car lined up this week so this one has to go.

Will put up a for sale thread in the next couple of days but would value an opinion on what she is worth.

Runs fine, pulls good, runs straight either speeding up or slowing down heavily. No odd noises. ABS light comes on 50% of the time but guess it's a loose connection on the new front-nearside sensor or corrosion is crushing the front-offside sensor. High 1??k on the clock. Will be OEM seats, Lucino grill and no sub when selling. Starts first time every time and I trust it to do 500 miles a week commute. Interior pretty good, one tiny burn on driver's seat.

Genuine MOT passed in late Nov, only a blowing exhaust gasket needed fixed. Will be gettting 6mths tax tomorrow.

4 Uniroyal rainsport month and a bit old.

Bad bits: Drinking oil a bit, about 1 litre every 1000-2000 miles. Lots of oil around the sparks and never any on the ground so hopefully a gasket issue. Got rocker and spark gaskets coming. Rust on rear arches back to metal and treated/painted (not perfect but OK) last year but rust on offside at sideskirt needs fixing. Rust on front arches at bumper fixing. Spot of rust under rear nearside window. Couple of other tiny bubbles in hatch. Badly painted front bumper. Paint faded in blotches on roof, stone-chips on windscreen. Scratches on rear windscreen.

TBH if I had the tools/time/know-how I'd fix the niggles and keep it but I don't and can't afford my daily off the road too long.

Needs some TLC but (assuming oil leak is just a gasket issue) not too much. Ugly paint on the roof is the main issue and I was just going to paint that gloss black.

Thing is it runs fine, feels great and sounds awesome and always puts a smile on my face so I don't want to see it broken. Hell, I'd be pissed off if I don't see it at JAE this year rust-free and sitting pretty.

Any hints at where to pitch price welcome.

500 miles a week in start-stop traffic in a GTi was killing my wallet.

Had a good hard think and a 1.1 Peugeot 106 made so much more sense.

Will be 40 next month. Time to grow up?
