The problems:

Down on power
Jerky @ low speed
limiter like a brick wall
bogs down at low RPM unnecesarily
hunts for idle
no cold idle at all
VIOLENT jerk when you let off the throttle slightly, like... through the windscreen shit.

tonight i decided to sack off all these problems and solve them, while gaining a little nistune experience.

I looked at my map, and compared it to a stock map. now when steve @ FC recalibrated for the GTi MAF, he done it manually, (my guess, trying to be a smart cunt and failing) whereas he coulda selected it from a drop down menu of MAF's. this being one of the advantages of nistune, i can stick any maf on my car and remap for it in a matter of seconds, so long as it is a nissan or ford cobra / lightning maf.

i tried to just select the correct MAF from the menu, but it led to SERIOUSLY bad running, overfuelling and missfiring.

so had to start a new map from scratch.

took the N14 map that matches my ECU, and copied over my Timing map, fuelling map, and all the load / RPM scalers for the map to the new one.

now i flicked through all 30+ of the various maps and found that no map tied up between the autech and the N14 ECU, but when matt at nistune transferred my map to the new chip, he took everything. so i played it safe and left everything else as it was, so it matched the N14 ECU it will be run on.

finally, i changed the maf from an aluminium SR20 maf rated at 250WHP to a 70mm plastic SR20 maf rated to 290WHP.

should be noted, at this point i am still sitting in my bedroom writing this map, ive not been near the car yet.

so transfered the map file to the laptop, hooked up the consult cable and sync'd the new map onto the ECU and burned it permanently to the board.

i can proudly state the car now runs PERFECT.

it is smooth. powerful. responsive. and generally the best it has been since the autech ECU packed in a month ago.

So after two professional wink wink.. mapping sessions, you did better sat in your room playing on the laptop. Fair play... wish you went and mapped it yourself from the start?

Learning curve I guess, reckon its much faster than since you were at santapod last weekend?

i couldnt write a full map yet. i could pick it up quickly, but id need det cans and a wideband O2.

its a LOT faster than it was last weekend. fingers crossed the snow holds off till next month and i can race on the 30th

also next update saturday. WHEELS.

on your ghetto filter enclosure, did you use silicone sealant between the maf and lid/box - extration pipe??

nah, there is a rubber ring in the maf housing which seals against the flat face of the lid.

the feed is 4" flexible extractor ducting yeah. B&Q special.
 
yeah man lol, love mods like this,

some geezr i know near me just went out a got a b&q bucket! and just put the filter on the inside of it, maf out side with a hole in the bottom!! lol

on a side note.

out of 4 cars that were mapped on our session by FCT.

mine is the only survivor...
