Wrong belt length - can someone advise?

Hi
I bought a 1110mm 6-rib drive belt for my N16 almera 1.5 2003 model with a/c, in readiness as my alternator was failing. Have fitted the new alternator only to find that the old belt is too long so the new belt would be tooAlternatorBox.jpg Alternator.jpg .

I now find that the pulley on the new alternator has a smaller OD than the original (53mm not 64mm). The alternator is pictured and the distributor has confirmed it should fit my Almera. Can anyone tell me what length drive belt I need as all the motor factors will say the standard one. I have emailed the supplier asking them too. Need to sort this as the car is off the road:(

Quickest way would be to snip the old belt in half, then run round all the pulleys with the tensioner set roughly in the middle, mark where it overlaps then remove and measure.

Then buy a belt closest to your measurement.

Thanks for the suggestion. I wasn't able to do that because the nut clamp for the adjuster of the other belt is all chewed up and won't budge so a new alternator belt cant be fitted yet. I did find that taking the alternator belt adjuster almost to its limit (6mm thread left) I was able to tension it up. My daughter can now drive the car but as the alternator belt has cracks in it I will have to find a way to remove the offending nut asap. I have tried a cold chisel on its edge without success so will soak in WD40 and hope for the best.

The listed belt is a 6PK1113, so not sure what's going wrong as the belt you have should be fine.
