N16 Lowering spring kits - Recommendations please

My Almera Sport+ feels like a barge when I push it hard in the twisties, looking to improve the handling with a set of Apex 35mm springs so far. Are there any other kits worth considering?

H&R and Eibach are a quality product.

If you become a paid member you'll gain access to lots of info on tuning the N16, plus discounts that will mean you can buy those springs cheaper. You'll get the membership fee back in no time because of discounts through the club! :)

H&R mate, just fitted springs to standard shox and there is a massive improvement :D Nice membership plug by the way Ed

The apex springs are good quality items with the standard struts. I had them on for about 6 months before switching to fully adjustable coilovers and they were ace.

Eibach build quality is excellent but there seems to be some disparity with thier lowering figures. I'd stress it's not only the almera this has been found with.

There's a fair few members with H&R springs on here and they swear by them.

I think as long as you stay clear of the usual tat like spax etc you should be fine.

I'm happy enough to just buy an Apex spring kit but my friend keeps advising me to buy a suspension kit. He thinks the OE dampers will be to bouncy for the harder spring but I can't find a full kit anywhere for the almera except coilovers.

You can get other types of dampers to go with your lowering springs that won't cost as much as coilovers.

I posted a link to a very good How To for installing the Koni struts :) made it very easy when it came to installing mine. My Konis will be for sale in a couple of weeks.

Cheers for the advice fellas. I think I'm gonna go with a set of Apex springs and see how I get on. Is there anything that needs renewing for when I take the struts off e.g nuts, gaskets, mounts?

They are not as the diesel has a heavier front thus requires a stronger spring.

I've just upgraded to KYB AGX and H&R springs (Edk's old ones) and I can't reccomend them highly enough, the improvement is amazing!!

I'm gonna leave the suspension upgrade alone for now. I had a spring snap on me last week so I had to fork out £45 and I ain't exactly flush at the moment. H&R springs and KYB shocks sound like the way to go when I get the cash.

Which lowering springs fit the yd22 models? there are a lot of different ones out there and I am quite confused which one will fit! any suggestions?
