Joey's N15 Ph2 - SR20DE+T

Hi all :)

I've been lurking in the shadows for a while and finally signed up. I'm from Eastern Australia where the Almeras are called Pulsars and the beer is served close to frozen.

JDM is the rage in Australia at the moment, though I note we still have ricey neons and fart canon exhausts on otherwise stock POS cheapo mobiles.
We've recently gone through a lengthy process to allow grey import 3 door VZ-Rs into the country. Our import laws are rather strict.

I have my beloved AUDM Phase 2 Pulsar SSS - 5 door hatch. Also have an STi Sedan which is my weekender & first true love, though the poor thing has really been shadowed by the Nissan now.
For those that don't know - SR20DE is the standard non turbo engine, +T is adding the turbo bits to it.
Most people do engine swaps here, but I couldn't see any point in pulling out a perfectly good engine.

It's quite perplexing for me browsing your rides over here, your GTi's have some extras that we dont see - you'd call them splitters I think? We'd say front or rear lips... I also notice different number plate surrounds, tidy side skirts, slightly different SR20s and you appear to be missing a couple of doors!

So this is the rides section, I'll post some pictures now and a mods list later on. I'm on the lookout for a few Almera bits for my car so hopefully this will change a little over time.

In Australia, the term "jiz" is meaningless to most people. I suspect it's actually a pommy term like my other favourite "bollocks!"
At 3am after a night on the town I'm royaly pissed, mucking about on the transport authority website and realise the term Jiz is meaningless to them also, and available to order. I also could have had 455CRK or PAN75
It only took a few clicks, a week later these plates arrived in the mail.

HID Reverse Lights, Epic Bright!

Most recent mod - MY98 STi front seats. Complete bastard to install!

Quad tail lights, involves a bit of extra wiring, a dremmel and some globe holders.

During the conversion, this is the GTiR T28 I originally used.

Engine bay after the turbo install. The IC piping, vac lines and BOV return is stealthy black, most people actually miss that it's turbo all together unless they spot the front mount.
Sometimes they ask why it has a front mount :p

All the work was completed by myself & mates.
The aim of the project was a quiet daily driver, admittedly it was already that when I bought it (stock standard) but who can resist the urge to change some bits?
It has worked out well, an awful lot of effort and skinned knuckles but worth it in the end. The exhaust is legal at 88dB, turbo spools early and makes buckets of torque, although I had to get a clutch type LSD to handle that. The coilovers have been great, ride is still comfy which is important as I have a pretty serious back injury.

I think it dynoed 208 HP at the wheels when I had it tuned, on our dynos stock SR20s see about 100 WHP. Main thing is it's really easy to drive now, on the dyno we paid a lot of attention to low/mid rpm & part throttle where it spends most of its time. I'm very pleased with the mapping, I have found I can cruise around in 4th and forget about changing gears if I'm too sore or tired.
Also goes nuts on windy mountain roads, we had a club cruise two days after it was tuned, I recall getting out at the re-group after Mt Mee and going "OMFG I LOVE this car!" :D

Good to have you on board.

Joey, as I've said to Paul, I love the STI seats and how clean your +T build is. No wonder he wants a build like yours... :p
