Why didn't Nissan turbo the Almera/Pulsar N15?

Didn`t the n15 come with a tubby in a few other countries? I remember an overseas chap with a standard n15 tubby on here?
 
they should bring out a k10 shell but with the 2lt

the ST has proved it can be a low litre and put the power down plus handles like a go-kart!

old skool just make it more aero so it doesnt get blown off the road!

I do remember reading something like that, he popped on here briefly dont think it was OEM turbo though

^both silver and both kidney grilles... that's all I can see I'm afraid. Panels and windows aand bumper are all different. Even the grille is on the bonnet unlike the N16.

Look at the N15's OEM UK grilles. You can see where the N16 got it's looks.
 
I remember a few years ago Zetetic (Mark) mentioning an Almera GTi-R on the cards before the financial trouble which saw Nissan & Renault team up. Was probably just a rumour though.
 
Going on how long it takes a car to be designed from start to finish, was the N16 being designed when Nissan was 100% Nissan.

To be fair to the Cheese eating surrender monkeys, they make a cracking diseasel and keep things simple. If Nissan were making cars now like they did in the mid 90's, none of us would be able to afford to run one. You'd need a Scanner just to wind the rear calipers back in.

Oh and just so we're all clear, very very few manufacturers these days are making good reliable cars, they're all making stuff last no longer than 50k, alternators, wishbones, exhausts, springs, you name it. The old days are gone.

yes it was totally nissan, when they went into partnership with renault they stole a few engines and started using their parts as they were cheaper, nissan had to go down this route as for the previous 10 years, 9 of them where a financial loss.

I'd say the the turbo thing just wasnt getting done much around that time and the big thing most of you's are missing is the crime wave what hot hatches had become in the 90's, un-insurable as some twocker would steal it over and and over again.

£5K you could have a fucking insane SR20DET.. you could get cams,pistons sleeves, GT35R manifold injectors and a stand alone for that price!
