Im not quite sure curtis knows whats meant by claying....

this is the kit I have does the job fine, can get it from halfords for like £10

Yes i do Sam, just that i have the clay bar, but wanted to know what to use as a lube...

Ive done it this afternoon and used a quick detailer, worked really well and has come up so good, but it needs a blow over no doubt!

Claying doesnt restore colour. Use a paint cutting polish for that and a good microfibre pad.

Trust me guys when i say it needs a blow over...

T-cut, paint restorer, etc etc

I spent all last year trying to get it too a good finish, such as Dave's example here used about 10 different products but no where near..

your correct Sam ive only ever mopped 1 car and it was a 100yr old peugeot 309 1300cc rott box. i dont trust myself with the GTi, plus theres no point right now as its got x amount of layers of wax lol.

am i right in thinking it wrong to mop over wax?

This car kills it.
The cleanest
One of the most comfortable
The tightest drive
And quite a damn hard pull to it too

One beast of an Almera.

Yeah David you would need to use a degreaser to strip the wax of first;) Obviously just dilute it to suit.

Chemical Guys Citrus wash will strip off any existing waxes etc then mop it but only if you have RDS or swirl marks and then SRP +EGP.

claying will also remove the wax, something like what matt has mentioned would do the job better as it would be able to get to areas that the clay wouldnt

i remember in error added some strong acid wheel to my spray gun at work and used it on the whole car (old 306) i stripped every bit of wax and polish haha

the foreign valet face afterwards shouting ‘ahh no you broke the paint, you broke the paint’ lol

been meaning to do it for a while now but i couldn't stand it no more. my engine bay well the under bonnet paint, surrounding panels, inner wing areas and battery where filthy, mainly due to the road salt that’s been down this month and last. I hate the thought of it being on the untreated paint work for too long.

In preparation for washing and yes I think its dirty and will begin a full clean most likely tomorrow.

Note the header still looking smart too

Ive mopped loads of cars now, pink back to red, smokey grey back to deep black, a mates terrano he washed using a sponge he found in his kitchen sink, which turned out to be a pan scrubber, so you can imagine what that did. Its really easy and those on the net seem to make a big deal out of it for some reason, you get better at getting the good results quicker rather than get better results.
Autoglyms good for a quicky but the mezenas the best when your using the machine, and I just love chemical guys jetseal because its so easy to apply and remove.

not wants.................. needs lol never ever seen this before. good job i got a S15 steering wheel fitted or id loose sleep for sure eek haha
