amp wiring for a newbie

hey guys loving the mera decided to keep so want to get my amp and sub today.
any one know the best routing through the bulkhead???
thanks andy

rubber bung on the right hand side of the bay.. leads in to the passenger foot well... than can be run under the carpet and under the rear seats in to the boot.... thats how mine is run.

rear 10cms?

i got 17cm infinities in the back of kerries no prob, and ya can fit 17cms in the front as well.

17cm components up front, 6x9'' in the rear parcel shelf or stripped interior with box's

People may argue 6x9's are for chav's & sound shitee being oval and not meant to reproduce quality sound.

But cars never going to reproduce amazing sound unless u dynomat everywhere etc, volume/reasonable clarity for me nd im happy

Also stripped makes for easy wiring as u can see..

but why use 6x9's when there are already perfect places for coaxials in the rear?

also, 6x9s are shit, whay purpose do they provide? yeah granted if you have no sub, but if you have a sub, not needed at all, especially if ya got components in the front

6x9's aren't shit.. they can go loud without distorting to fuck like a little co-axis set on the rears might. Also covers the mid-bass abit better, otherwise you have lots of tinny trebble hard pumpin low bass. But nothing inbetween.

Good luck on the audio build whatever you decide, pretty easy getting it through the bung near the ABS modual, then down under the glovebox through the sidetrim too the back under the rear seats etc

Just remember to run your RCA down the other side to the power cable to reduce interference

eddie, learn ya shit before saying stuff

a like for like speaker will distort at the same level, also depends on how your powering it.

if you take a 17cm 100w rms coaxial set, and a 6x9 100 w rms 6x9 set, they will both distort at the same level.

now, if you arent going to put a sub in your car, yeah 6x9s will do the job,
although being that andy has said he is putting a sub in, coaxials are much better suited to the job

and as for the 6x9 covers mid bass bit, your almost speaking exactly the opposite of what is true.

6x9s produce more low bass, hence the reason for using them if your not putting subs in. 17cms are mid bass.

thanks for the advice guys
ended up getting some nice alpine coax(Alpine SPG-17C2)
they went strait into the standard baskets at the back
sounds great with my sub which is a magnet 12" sub which i thought would be shite but it's really good
this is housed in an alpine type r sub box
powered with an alpine v12 amp
used to have a type r sub but it got robbed out of my polo but this one is just as good
will try to get some pics up later !
thanks again
andy

sounds like a nice set up mate, the type g alpines work well off a headunit, even better when amped though. lol

this is what went in

the only promlem is that my rear view mirror gets shaken soooo much that it shakes itself into a vertical position which is really funny to watch any ideas on stiffening the mirror??
cheers andy
