Seen as the club has been down I haven't been able to update the thread much!

I did write a thread up on the temp forum with my intent on selling on the almera as parts. I feared i could not afford to pay for the work to be completed to see her live on.

She gave up the ghost last Tuesday on my way to work which is highly unfortunate! When I parked up at work it started misfiring like a mofo. With no breakdown cover (Fool!) and the car sounding dreadful i was stuck for ideas with what to do.

After making a few phone calls I have been told by a very kind family member to get the car to the garage by whatever means possible. After ringing the garage they told me to drive it there if it was misfiring. With an escort I decided to drive down slowly and carefully (A huge roundabout proved to be awesome fun!). I managed to get it to the garage and since then it has been sat untouched :(

Waiting on the mechanic to strip her down to the pistons to give me a full quote (in writing) before I can give the go ahead with the work. Fingers crossed it wont cost to much and my Almera can be back on the road within the next two weeks!

Just a small update folks :)

Been without the mera nearly three weeks now and everytime I ring the garage its "Oh yeah I had a rush job to do will be starting yours tomorrow".

Taking the piss as I don't even know how badly damaged she is.

I reckon it will have been over a month that they will have kept my car so tempted to get them to knock off the month tax that it will have cost me while they have been pissing round NOT working on my car!

Been promised my car bar this week..

They said it'd be ready for Wednesday. Rang them today...It'll be ready Thursday.

I'm going down there tomorrow to see how it's going + to kick some ass.

Sounds like a fuck-about to me, too much of this shit goes on in garages these days.

Hope you get a good result mush.

Cheers mate

Rang them today and FINALLY they have said it is complete.

No mis firing no more smoke no shitty performance it is running sweet and is ready to drive away. They said the piston rings were completely fucked and the reason for the mis fire was because one of the spark plugs had become fouled due to the oil being burned. A fresh set of spark plugs and she is sorted now.

Going to pick her up at 12.30 tomorrow. I have NO idea on how I should be driving after having the piston rings changed. Should I be careful for a few hundred miles or can I jump in and catch up on the fun I've been missing out on?

Any replies welcome!

Id imagine (hope) that the garage would have bedded the rings in and done an oil change before giving you the car back.

Havent updated since i got the car back...

Unfortunately they hadn't bedded in the rings so that was left to me. They advised me to drive sensibly for 1000 miles (but seen as i have been told by ALOT of people i have been driving a different rev ranges to help bed the rings in). Currently i am at 600 miles then it goes back for an oil change.

It is driving alot better than before so thats some good news..

I have also purchased phase 2 front and rear lights off paul (pred1012) so will get around to fit them once they arrive

Just a small update :)
