For anyone wanting an outer cv joint for an almera gti...

carparts-direct.co.uk sell them; cost is about £113 and it has a 2 year guarentee; picked one up for mine (for anyone who has tried to get one for a gti will know it can be irritating as gti's have a 1mm bigger driveshaft). Just thought I would let people know

MOD EDIT
DO NOT USE THESE. THEY WILL STRIP YOUR DRIVESHAFT SPLINES

yep, fitted it to the driveshaft the other day; all seems well; havent driven it yet but dimensionally is the same as my old cv as far as I know

just been on the site heres the in for them

JCV737A 2.0 Gti 07/96-02/00 ABS MK1 Chassis=N15 MAN Frt LH or RH (Outer) £94.97 (excluding any postage)

But isn't the problem that all the ones on the market are the wrong spline count?
I dunno; this one went on the shaft a nice fit; perhaps I'm leading myself in for failure but it all seems well. Will be driving it in a few weeks hopefully so will find out then

Just be wary - Scott bought some 'GTi' ones, got them fitted to the driveshafts, drove down the road and the splines stripped and wrecked the CVs and shafts.

yeah, watch that mate,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, my ones looked spot on, and were a nice tight fit, fitted by my mechanic who ive had for 6 years, and it was about 100yards down the road, then sod all. had the right amount of splines, size was correct.
it looks like it was the internal chamfers that caused the fail (on the c/v) bloody expensive week that was :(
