gti engine in a si??

Hi people. Iv a stupid question..would a gti engine or a 1.6/1.8 engine fit straight into a 1.4se model? Or would fabricaton and mount modification be required?

It is very easy, just make sure you make a check list of parts before you start. 140+ for a few hundred quid and lots of town torque the smaller engines really lack.

Thanks. One more thing ..as you can tell im a novice. But if im to replace my engine then do i need bigger fuel lines and do i need a gti ecu or should a remap suffice. Prior apologies for the question

Gti engine. Gti ECU WITH it's accompanying NATS box and key chip (little red bit in the key) the NATS box is a Siemens unit located just to the left of the steering column under the plastics it is vital that you have this with the SAME Ecu, key chip and Nats unit from the EXACT car otherwise it will not be able to disable the immobiliser and you'll need to get it all recoded which is costly

Fuel lines are the same iirc but you'll need the gti throttle cable I think (might be wrong there) and a gearbox to fit the SR20 so standard gti or if you want to really make use of the power change get a VZR gearbox

You'll also need to know if your car is a Phase 1 or phase 2 because the GTI engine loom you'll need will depend on the phase of car you have and will need to match.

I'd suggest you use gti brakes on the front also as I think the sr/sri brakes aren't quite good enough to cope (again I may have got that wrong)

Hopefully this will help you :)

Don't waste your time or money, just get a gti, they are worth nothing so you should be able to afford the insurance
