URGENTS ADVICE PLEASE - REVS WAY TO HIGH- 11 MILES TO THE GALLON

Hi,
My used car is still under warranty, I had to send it back to have a few adjustments done, but it's come back worse that before, they agreed for me to have it looked at again at another garage, who have said the revs are fine??????
I am getting 11 miles to the gallon, it feels like it wants to take off whilst driving, Can someone please advise, as I can't cope with this car anymore.
The revs were sitting at approx 1200 rpm instead of 800 ish, it's now come back and on occasions is going up to almost 2500 rpm when pulling off and also changing up in gears. They have told me that they changed the Throttle Body Housing (which is what another Mechanic suggested could be the fault), and they said that it could take up to 200 miles for it to settle in and adjust???? I find that bizarre, but is there any truth in that? It is racing at the moment and also using a lot of petrol.
I would be very grateful if you could offer some advice, as they are willing to pay for another garage to carry out the works now.
I am based in Kingston upon Thames.
Many thanks
Sue

I had the same problem with my 1.5 after I had a new battery put on the car I took it to Nissan & they done a ecu reset & that worked but since then I sold that car & got a 1.8 almera when I put a new battery on this one it automatically reset but I've been told if you disconnect the battery for 10 minutes it should reset ecu returning the idle to normal well that what I've been told just give that a go
