My Autech project

It's a 1.4 Si Almera that has had an Autech SR20 put in it, because the original Autech shell was rotten.

Mij built the car I suggest reading this complete thread.

Oh i know that, thanks for the heads up though sam! Ive read this build, do you know who he sold the car to? Because i just want to know as much info as possible before the car arrives, im still pending arrival:( but should deffo be here on sunday. Il post pics.

The guy you bought it from I'd say.

Why are you looking to sell already if you don't even have it yet?

Where have you had that information from?

A GTi is 143hp but an Autech is 175hp with a shorter ratio LSD box. It's a much quicker car.

Funny that he has bought it and doesn't even know what the car is... maybe the N15 will teach him eh?

Edit : Well, this might explain it, he's still a kid.

Hahah ive just never heard of autech untill i baught this car and reason why i said there not quicker than the gti was because someone said even with 175hp the gti's are quicker even in a straight line or a 1/4 mile im just here to find as much info as i can before i recieve the car on sunday thanks tho! And i also own a 1.6 vvl lump bluetop will the autechs gearbox bolt on as it is the same setup ehh?

The someone you've been speaking to hasn't got a clue. The 1.6vvl engine would be a lot slower with much less torque than the Autech engine.

Yes. They are 175hp for like 1 second at the top of the Rev range and take hours to get there. The Autech engine great.

I agree. Drive a sr16ve pulsar daily, they're not great to be honest and have poor fuel economy. Owned a GTi with a stock roller rocker sr20de and some basic bolt on mods and short ratio box which moved a lot better and returned a higher fuel economy.

Might just stick the ve head on a 2 litre lump, and suprising always though the vvl was quicker, and how does the autech feel compared to the vvl? I have driven mine but it was only for about 5 mins or so as the car was berried deep in a scrap yard

Very interesting, I seen this earlier...

I always thought the new owner had ripped the engine out and installed it into an auto grass buggy. He mentioned this was his plan when he came to collect the car. I removed everything exterior wise and sold it as a completely stock looking 1.4 Si with an Autech pulsar running gear.

The engine was a stock Autech SR20DE, it had a full aftermarket exhaust system, air filter and poly engine mounts.

The new owner bought the car as well as the following extras:

- Complete spare autech sr20 engine (knocking)
- spare autech gearbox with shafts
- nistune ecu (wasn't running right)
- Dastek Unichip

I would check the shell for rust before investing a lot of money into it, I did remove and treat all the rust but that was back in 2013.

Good luck!

Yeah he told me the same thing, he said he thought it was a n1 and wanted for his buggy, apprantley a breaker in bradford said the car had running issues when it was with you, and he didnt even tell me about the spare engine and box haha and the nistune ecu wont run right in the autech because nistune didnt make a daughterboard for the autech apprantley and thanks appriciate it il have pics up tomorow of the car hopefully

The car had no issues when I sold it, it was running perfect, I actually did several hundred miles that summer purely on local back roads without any problems.

The only real issues I had was that the ignition barrel wiring needed repair and the alarm/immobiliser had to be removed. Once that was sorted the nistune became faulty, it would idle correctly and kept misfiring. I had wasted enough time trying to figure out what was wrong with the nistune so I just reinstalled the stock ecu and enjoyed the car as it was until i sold it.

I don't understand why the buyer was confused about the car. I explained about the Autech engine clearly in the advert on ebay, gumtree and facebook. The link to my build thread was in the advert too.

I'll log in time to time to see what happens, if you ever want to sell it don't be shy to PM me!

Reason for selling: It’s time to move on

Mileage: 70-80k miles on the shell and about 60k Miles on the engine

MOT til May 2015
NO TAX (Sorned)

Good points:
*Autech SR20DE non RR Highport engine About 60K Miles
*Autech V LSD gearbox
*Poly bushed engine mounts
*Poly bushed gear shifter bush
*Poly bushed power steering rack
*4-2-1 SS Ebay Manifold with 2.5'' downpipe
*Custom Phil built 2.5'' mandrel bent exhaust system
*Gti front brakes with 5.1 brake fluid
*Drilled and grooved discs
*Gti interior

Bad Points:
Front bumper is not in the best of conditions, has a scuff and a bit of paint flaking at the bottom. Minor dents and scratches but noting major. There are a few of spots of bubbling, drivers side rear arch and surface rust on the drivers front wing. Both are only bubbling and it is still very solid. Drivers side sill has bubbling but still very solid.

Hidden Rust -

When I bought the car it had a couple of rust spots behind the boot carpet. Driver’s side has some surface bubbles but was still solid, Passenger side was a bit worse and was about the size of a finger. I cleared as much off as possible, used some rust treatment and then undersealed it. That was two years ago, the rust has not increased since then and is still solid . I understand this might put off some members of the club and that's fine but the car is as described.

Yeah kind of the same he told me, and i thought you cant use the nistune ecu, on the autech as they didnt make a daughterboard for it, so how did you manage to get it running? And thanks for the info though appriciate it il update you real soon, cars arrived!
