Next job is bat caves and replace the steel brake pipes.

You got Cov's shell? Rust is worse than I would have expected. Good to see restoration work though, well done mate.

Yeah me too, but i suppose thats what you get with N15s. Should have reshelled into an N16 loon.

Anywho, done some rust removal and some rust prevention.

Bought some dust masks and new goggles, dont think my lungs can handle much more rust dust.

Nissan like to use foam to hold water in the crevises so the tin worm has somewhere to thrive.

Then to weld up the batcaves. Found a small patch of rust at the top of the arch, so covered that with the same plate.

Might do the passenger side tomorrow, will be more awkward because of the fuel filler pipework.

Removing seam sealer revealed more rust. Cheers Nissan.

Thought id may aswell strip the whole arch back to metal, just to check.

May aswell seam weld, bit more rigidity and less chance of water seeping into the panel joins

Just the sill to do on the driver side. No more installments for a few weeks now, back to work for me :(

Theres nothing in there to set fire to. Pulled all the looms to the front!! Wont be making that mistake again.

I wonder do you actually lose any weight after fixing all of the rust spots, that green one could've also been better in the end if the "leftover" rust was all that you photo'd here, would've been less work left there, my guess is you decided it's unrepairable which sounds legit.

Though for a lightweight N15, wouldn't it be smarter to turbo an 1.4 Sedan? that'd be lighter than a N/A SR20 Hatchback if i'm not wrong, don't judge me though if i'm wrong there, i'm more focused on N16s and that turquoise beauty you see on the left is nowadays heavier than stock, probably should put up some pics of what i've been doing during past year.

Though who am i to talk about lightweight, i drive that thing's younger brother which weights at least 270 kilos more and has 30 horses less, stock weight is around 1360s if i don't remember wrong.

Quite wrong, the 1.4 and 1.6 engines use cast iron blocks the SR is Aluminium, then you have all the added weight of the bits required for turbo. Manifold/turbo/pipework/intercooler etc

If you remove the running gears from both the difference in weight would be negligible just because it's a lesser engine doesn't mean its a lighter car.

A lot has happened over the last few weeks so time for a picture whore update. Not quite in order but you get the gist of whats going on.
