    Amping Door Speakers...

I had no joy with the existing rubbers on the GTi, they were so full of cable I couldn`t get fat speaker wire through them. So I took off the doors, drilled some new holes, and fitted seals to them. (IIRC there is an old post that mentions a special tool used to make new holes without removing...

She was standard AR2 Sam, I know what you mean though. Some sort of optical gremlin at work in that pic.

    My old Gti......

Mine was certainly less than 171bhp. What surprised me ,when word got around it was for sale ,was the amount of interest from the Saxo/Pug/Fiesta "cruisers". I suppose GTI`s are a fairly leftfield choice for a cheap and quick car, and they are only getting rarer:(

    My old Gti......

IIRC your car is more powerful than mine was Nistro, so glad to hear your treating it with a bit of respect:)

    My old Gti......

Yeah Garnz, it was a bit weird as it was a matter of hours between seeing it looking good then becoming a wreck. Plus, there is that part of it when you try your best to look after your car....not booting it from cold, changing the oil every 3k, thinking about what the odd rattle or squeak...

    My old Gti......

Yeah, hope he is ok too, that is the main thing. He`s now talking about reshelling it even though he is in hospital. I`d imagine his family aren`t too keen as it is the 2nd GTI he has killed. (I`m even happier you got the Gen5 now!) I won`t be vulturing anything on it, (saving for another GT...

    My old Gti......

A bit of a random post for this section... I swapped my GTi for something more economical, aiming to concentrate on my Primera. The lad it went to added coilovers and 17"s. I spotted it blatting about one evening, it looked good, and I was pleased the new owner was clearly enjoying it...

    New to the almera scene

Never tried a K+N panel, so I can`t really comment. Have a gander at the meets section. It`s well worth signing up as a paid member on here, there really is a wealth of knowledge on everything GTI:)

    New to the almera scene

I had a 2.25" with 2.5" tip, with a big silencer section. That was easy to live with around town, above 50 it did drone though. Scorpion did make a backbox that sounded similar as well, these turn up forsale sometimes, although have issues. Some AOC bods have much louder systems. Best thing for...

    New to the almera scene

Hi! If you want it quiet, I`d just stick with oem replacement exhaust parts to be honest. An aftermarket backbox won`t do a lot on its own for performance...for that you`re looking at changing the entire system, by which time it will be loud.

Crikey, it`s on already! That`s dedication for you:lol: Glad to hear about the performance bonus today:thumb: After seeing the difference today, I`ve got to get a 2.5" downpipe for the HKS.

Ah, nice looking car that though. I can see why people bang on about white N15s after seeing one in the flesh. I was off to the glory of Watton auctions!
