Well I have had my dCi for nearly 8 years now and I still struggle with the steering. I had the track rod ends replaced a year ago and I have over-inflated the fronts (slightly) but to no avail. Even new tyres seem to make little difference.

Is this just a characteristic of this spec or is there a fault? Perhaps it's just the way cars are on wide tyres.

This is the 3rd car I have had with power steering it's the 2nd where the steering is quite heavy. The 'stop gap' banger I traded in for the Almera had nice light steering on 13 inch wheels (ex-police Ford Escort 1.8 LD) whereas the car before it, a 1999 SEAT Ibiza 1.4 on wide-ish 14 inch steel wheels was relatively heavy.

    Any feedback appreciated, thanks.

I think I might have solved it with some 3 in 1 oil on the U shaped fittings and other metal bits.
