Hi, could someone advise me as to why my fuel pump on my gti is pulling 14-16amps? (measuered at the fuel pump) the fuel pump is a walbro 255lph and when looking on the walbro website they say there draw should be between 6-8amp at our standrd fuel pressure, so why is mine pulling double that? Iv also been advised to replace the fuel pump wiring and wire it straight to the battery with a relay, thanks

Either the pump has internal resistance (and is probably failing) which makes it draw more current or there is high resistance in the wires and/or connections.

Try to replace the wiring with thicker gauge wire, I've seen melted connections on other cars when using a higher lph aftermarket fuel pump.
