Im doing an A-Level project on 6x9s. Im designing a system to hide the speakers under the parcel shelf at the touch of a button, so they won't be seen (intended to stop them from being stolen, maybe when your parked somewhere dodgy) & then when you want them to be seen, you can make them pop up again. what do you think??

I realy need replies on this so i can put it into my project.

Thanks

D&T I was ever so good in that u can make a motor on each side of the parcel shelfthat pulls a piece of cloth over when u press the button and then press the button again and it removes the cloth only way i can think of unless you want to move the actual speaker that will be a job and a half

edit come to think of it if u remove the speaker its going to be too obvious because there are 2 holes missing i think the best way is to do it with th cloth it wil be easier

could just put a jacket over them? only kidden, press a button and they sink into boot? or whole parcel shelf flips round but then gota think about the connecting wires?

A simple solution would be too just counter sink the 6x9s into a thickish MDF and cover the shelf and no one would be none the wiser. But that would probably defeat the purpose of your project.

sounds like a good idea if i understand correctly you want to be able to hide them when you leave your car to go to work but want them on show when you go to a cruise or what ever? i know a couple of people who have had there cars broken into and 6x9's stolen
good luck

if u wanna go really space age why dont you put both 6-9's on a servo so they can raise up and down and then cut into the middle of the shelf beside the speakers but too covers covered in cloth which slide across and up into the gap producin a seamless top..... im gonna do sum drawings and cum back 2 ya got me thinkin now! lol

dont buy them in the 1st place they are shit? haha ermm

well as a proper answer you could have something on actuators? or hydraulic arms like what boots/bonnets open with?

making them electronic will be a struggle really, you could link them in a relay so that when the amp turns on the speakers rise up from the shelf?

theres loads of possibilities its just where you want to take it to and what your skills are matey :)

good luck!

(personally wud ditch the 6x9s though hehe :p)

Why would people want to jack them i mean they only look good its the quality you want from the speaker not the look lol

I mean why would people want to jack 6x9s if they are crap mind you i never had a set i just use normal round speakers.

Go with the cloth idea, think of a roller blind type system that could be attached to the parcel shelf and a motor pulls it over the whole shelf!
