Right for all you newbies heres some basic tips to tell the difference between the above

N15 Phase 1: 1996- early 1998. The first phase of the N15 Almera which can be noticed by its headlamps, silver backed indicators, Flat faced rear lights with block style lenses, front mounted roof aerial, flat nosed and more T shape style grill. GTi's were more basic in phase 1's and bodykits were optional extra's. The kit is most identifiable by the twist in its side skirts. The Phase 1 GTi also had a badge on the front grille and from 1997 had aircon.

N15 Phase 2: 1998-1999. The second phase of the mera had quite a few enhancements including New grille, headlamps (crystaline), black backed indicators, rear lights had a raised twin tubular look, and bee sting aerial. The GTi model came with white dials, black side strips, black B pillars incorporating the GTi logo, ABS and a new bodykit which came as standard but had a fresh look with flat side skirts, a swooping lip on the front bumper and rear splitter with fins and a small meshed cut out.

N16 Models: 2000 onwards. The N16 was a whole new look for the Almera range, with a more modern 'bubble' shape and completely different chassis. With the majority of the milleniums features included and losing the GTi tag altogether to be replaced with the top of the range 1.8 Sport+ the N16 gained more comfort but lost the performance of its predecessor
