I have an Almera 2003 1.5 petrol hatch and I am trying to find out why the red brake icon does not light up on the dash when the ignition is on or when the hand brake is up.
The ABS light also does not come on but after a check with the dealer it looks like the car just does not have it so that's one problem fixed.
The dealer said the red brake light should come on briefly and then go away however.
I have tried another cluster or two and the same issue so that rules out busted LED/tampering.
I spoke to a car electrician and they said it should only come on when the hand brake is up (conflicting with what the dealer said).
Can anyone with a similar model test this for me?
And is there a guide on here on how to remove the center console around the hand brake to see if perhaps the toggle switch is busted?
