N16 armrest

guys, the wife has just got an N16 1.5sx, we have a problem with the centre console armrest.
the lid won`t open up on it and I don`t want to force it and break it, has anyone got any suggestions or tips that may help me to get it open. the release at the front just won`t do anything.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you do have to force it, just be really careful when/if it does release. The hinge at the back is quite fragile so don't let it open too far of you'll break that off.
 
should have updated this a few weeks back, yep brute force done it, never known an armrest to be so tight.

No probs dude, I am going to fiddle with the catch maybe try bending a little to see if it becomes any easier..?!
