N16 Temp gauge - advice please

Hi, a mate has an N16 1.5 on a 52 plate (facelift model).
The temp gauge goes straight up into the red and stays there regardless of outside temp, aircon on/off etc.
Is this simply a case of replacing the temp sender as i suspect??
If so, where is it located and is it accessible? Also, can they be purchased anywhere other than Nissan dealers??

Sender is possibly on the back of the cylinder head, flywheel side.

Seimens VDO may have a suitable sender as an alternative.

I came across this b4. Am assuming there's no sign of heating or radiator fan coming or wotsoever. If thats the cae etheir you etheir got a loose connection. I had my wiring daggling over the manifdolds and was picking up the heat, sending the temp sensor to the red zone.
If all the wiring seems fine, u probably do have a faulty sensor.
