New Almera Tino owner

Hi all,

I bought a 2005 Almera Tino 1.8 last year. It has 104,000 miles on it and it's generally been ok to drive. I've replaced a few things on it such as a new battery, exhaust back box, new front discs and pads and a few bulbs.

The only issue with is that it tends too use a fair bit of oil.

Could this be down to the age of the engine, or is there something else that I'm missing altogether?

Thanks.

Some 1.8 engines suffered from having a warped cylinder (number 4) due to overtorquing certain bolts during the assembly process.

Check your spark plugs, if number four looks worse than the rest then it's that.

I have seen some 1.8s with jammed piston oil control rings as well. If the maintenance history isn't the best oil change wise or it's been driven a lot in stop-and-go traffic, this could be a possibility.

Other more generic options would be PCV system issues or oil leaks.
