p2 front lights on a p1

They do "fit".

You have to cut the slam panel and do some re-wiring. Apparently it's not that difficult, but meh. There's a thread about it, but a quick search doesn't throw it up.
 
Alot of the ones on e-bays are recalled lights, that's why they are so cheap.

They actually burn the inside of the lens.

Thats very true not just inside of the lens but also the wiring becomes a bit of a mess and the block connectors melt (happend to mine and had to take it back to Nissan)

the people who worked on my car was a bit messy though they never even bothered to remove my front bumper to remove my lights. they just unclipped the grill clips unscrewed the head light bolts and just ripped it out leavin a bit of a mark on the bumper. (not that that I was fussed lol) as I got a set of these lights for free and shold them for £60
