Speaker Sizes

Hi this is my first post, i just got my 98 gti yesterday!!
Im going to upgrade the speakers and wanted to know what the sizes are so i can get them ordered up!!
(tried to post the ice section but it wouldnt let me)

rear: 6.5" (17cm) fit perfectly.

Fronts: again 6.5" but you will probably have to make up some spacers using MDF, although I heard Corsa B spacers fit, i dont know first hand.
 
That's becasue ICE is limited to registered members get you ££ in and become a member then you have full access.
 
I thought id need replacement speakers in my GTi but there all Clarion speakers!!! Were these standard with the GTi?? its a 1998 And the sound quality is very good. Not gonna bother with replacements until these break if they do!!!

Clarion's were standard in all meras AFAIK. As you say the sound quality isn't too bad standard but it's ace if you upgrade them.
 
Whats the deal with the electric connnection, I've not had a car with a connection like it.
How would I go about modding it to fit my aftermarket sony speakers?
Is there wire inside the white plastic I can just solder to the speaker connection?
 
yeah just chop the connectors off, strip a bit, and crimp a spade connector on it or use an electrical terminal to connect it to the spades on the speaker.

Be careful when stripping though because Nissan used just enough wire to reach the speakers. Tight B*stards!

really depends on what your gonna do with ya system fella, if your gonna give it some proper poke, then personally i would run a new cable through from the h/u to the speaker mount, otherwise you may end up in meltdown mode.
it`s always wise to upgrade all cables if you are gonna do a moderate to heavy install.
