Tv installation...

I have just installed a Kenwood KVC-1000 6.5" touch screen with a Kenwood KTC-1000R TV Tuner/Amp. This works great with my slimline PS2 connected direct to it. :D

I have since installed 2 Arkon HM-702 headrest screens which again work fine when they are connected direct to the PS2. :D

The problem i am having is when i connect all 3 screens together with the PS2,the 2 rear screens work perfect but the Kenwood screen in the front gets major interference. :wall:

This is the first time i have installed TV's in my car but have a good knowledge of I.C.E. installs so have a good idea of what should be connected to what. :)

Does anyone on here know anything about TV's and what would cause the interference and any suggestions of how to get round it?

Any help would be much appreciated as it is starting to do my head in.....

hmmmmmmmm try wrapping the cable in tin foil to stop interference.

Thanks for that advice Darren. Sounded like a good idea so i have done it and have found no change in the amount of interference that i am getting. :(

you need a box thingy, I cant remember what they're called, I had to get one when was running 2 screens, its a splitter that boosts the signal. Got one from turners for about 30 quid ish(I think)

It could still be that you need one of those, and the interference is affecting it more because of the poor signal.
Also try changing your earth and/or power on the kenwood screen, is the kenwood screen your radio aswell?, like a all in one?

Did you upgrade the earth? As the standard harness doesnt have a proper earth, it uses the arial as its earth which isnt very good

Earth is upgraded, have bought a supresser and think i am also goin to get one of those boosters aswell. If all of this doesn't work than i think i will just put it all in the bin....:superlol:

give it to me instead lol

any way best of luck with it :)

also try upgrading the power wire to the headunit/screen, the standard ones not up to much either, might aswell while you're on lol!

Where have you put the earth by the way? if you've screwed it to the member then that could be your problem, theres lots of earths on there and you could be causing ground feedback.
less earths in a car is better

Never knew that I will keep that in mind :)

The earth is attatched to the brace behind the dashboard.
Surely a bad earth would cause intereference all the time not just when all 3 screens are connected!!!
Will try changing the earth and power supply, have already bought a supressor and think i will get a booster aswell just to keep the job right...lol

Thanks for the advice lads...much appreciated :D

Booster arrived this morning. It is now fitted and all 3 screens are perfect when the engine isn't running :D but does have a little interference on the front screen when the engine is running :( but hopefully the suppressor will sort that out. :D

Once again thanks for the help Lads (Steve and Darren)!!!

The earth thing, its called a ground loop as its when another earth is interfering with another one, so it could of been your other screens interfering
also a poor signal is more likely to be interfered with

glad you got it sorted mate
