actually a higher rev limiter in some cases would really help. to me and you a gear change takes no time at all, on the drag strip or race track that could be a lot!

spoon shown a video of their civic that goes to 10,000 rpm and raced it against another one that can only do 8,000rpm, the difference was way more than i ever imagined... ill try to dig it out

edit: found it

IN RESPONSE TO YOUR 10,000 RPM HONDA I SAY :fingers: :hand:
I JUST FOUND THIS CLIP OF AN R34 SKYLINE REVVING TO 10,000 PLUS IT WOULD PISS ON A HONDA ANY DAY

That Spoon Civic would NEED to rev that high 'cos of its insane N/A 1.6 BHP though wouldn't it? So either the "8000rpm Civic" was a standard 160bhp (or whatever the Jap one is) one, or a Spoon one limited to 8000 so it can't get to its peak power? Either way it'd be at a disadvantage. I agree with BenSkett as well, have a base advantage with displacement is the way to go...

lol dick head.

if i take the guvnor off my car i could go to 12000rpm if i wanted, but i wouldn't gain more power from that...i can go to 7500rpm, but why when my power maxes out at around 6750?

go back to putting an RB26 in your almera bud

that spoon civic can go to 11,000 rpm but the power band is up to 10,000, so why should it go higher if it's just gonna lose speed?

http://www.japanesesportcars.com/skyline/specs/r34_gtr_mspec.php

see "max horsepower". thats on the top of the range r34 gtr. the redline starts at 9,000rpm, but the max power is at 6800 after that the power just dips... unless he has done some major major work on the engine, just because it shows 10,000 doesnt mean theres power there

Think a few members need to do some research on how engines ACTUALLY work and respond to tuning. Thread locked down.

Has to be two of the dumbest posts I've ever read on here. Back to the playground boys, your dads bigger and harder than everyone elses!

Something I read the other day said that no one can compete with the Chinese car companies at the minute in terms of labour costs etc, so the 'big' car manufacturers are trying to move away from mass producing cheap cars (which China will out-do them at) and making more premium/executive models, such as luxurious 4x4's and big cruisers as a way to fill a gap in the market without having to compete with China.

yep, when I first started at nissan it used to cost around £3800 to build a K11 Micra. Around £3200 of that was labour costs for building the car and making the car parts, nissan sold the car for just over £4000(rest of acual price when to the tax man and to the dealers) so theres not much profit in there.
However building a full size 4x4 would only cost around £500-£600 more and they sell those for 3 and 4 times the price of a micra. Makes much better buisness sense.
