What have I done? Where does this connect to?

I've just found the time to replace the fuel-filter that was removed by an AA mechanic. that went smoothly but at the final moment, I noticed a rubber hose that is dangling in the wind and cannot fathom where it should go.
It looks to be connected to the gearbox area and the hose comes up to near the fuel filter.

This is on the 2.2SXE. I have looked at the 112bhp TD-SE (blue) but it has a different arrangement so I cannot copy it.

Photo's taken to show rough location but it is a bit cramped in there.

Cheers Spook, Much appreciated.

Just taken a mate to collect his car that was being MOT'd. The mechanic there said that it looked like a breather-pipe also.

Certainly put my mind at ease, thanks again.
