Hi,
I am hoping that maybe someone out there may be able to help shed some light on the problem stopping our 2001 Tino from starting. It is petrol manual 1.8L.
The full story...
A few weeks back it would not start. Had crankshaft sensor changed, it started and run a couple of weeks until the fuel got low (not empty - no light) and wouldn't start again. Put some fuel in and after a few hours it started and run until fuel got low again (again no light, just low) and it wouldn't start again.
Thought it may be the fuel pump and RAC man said we should have changed cam sensor too so we did that. The fuel pump is fine and we have checked the relay and fuse. The relay is working fine, clicks when powered and checked for resistance. If the pump is powered directly it starts and runs. Putting a wire from after the fuel pump fuse down to the wire in the loom next to the driver's seat makes it work, but obviously that is not ideal.
There is an engine management light on - exhaust pollution oxygen sensor... could that cause it?
Any ideas gratefully received.
Thanks,
Deb
