1/4 mile times

Ive just bought a almera gti and its completely standard. Anyone run any 1/4 mile times in a standard car? What time should i be aiming for?
 
Hmm I'd say 17s? Sam ran a 16.1 in his lightly modified one....

Fastest modified N/A GTi was Dave Bull with 13.47 seconds IIRC.
 
i'm sure when autocar first tested the mera, (or top gear maybe) they recorded 16.2.

think i've seen roughly that figure in other places too. 17's seems pretty slow tbh.
 
imo a stnd N15 GTi should run a 16.2sec 1/4 mile with good practice. 17s are slow for a 2.0 16v, for example my last car 306 1.9dt ran a 17.8sec 1/4 mile.

did i mention it was a derv, and anyone who's driven a derv knos that 1st gear is good for nothing LOL

16.1 is the standard 1/4 mile time, I did it in mine the first time i ever went to the strip and so did a bloke who used to come on here and now I cant remember his name! his car was red, and he got things from scrap yards for people lol
