17 inch wheels?

hi there, a happy tuesday to all

A question;
does putting on a set of 17 inch alloys change the handling on a N15 gti?
Am thinking of lowering by 40mm and adding larger alloys to remove the arch gap
17 by 7j with 215/40 tyres
any thoughts?

I can't talk for the GTI as I only have an SI. Yes it does affect the handling but not badly.

That said I have put 17/18/19" wheels on all my cars and I don't hoon around too much.

Handling is affected by the 17's as it will tramline a fair bit people have found but I can't say that I noticed it badly at all when I had a set imo
