52 reg 1.5 gearbox

im looking for exactly the same...seems to be impossible to get....do you know if this is a common fault with this model? i only have my car 5 weeks, its a 51 reg 1.5
 
yep ,seems to be very common.had the car three months.bloody gearbox fell apart and its gonna cost 500 quid to source one and then i will have to fit it.luckily my brother can help me.
 
a guy on here has told me he fitted a 1.8 primera gearbox into his, he posted it on a thread i put up here, maybe have a look and do the same yourself? im def gonna git it a go, because i cant find a 1.5 gearbox anyway, and even if i do it will probably go again
 
It's a common fault with 1.5 gearboxes before the facelift model. Oil filler hole is about an inch too low so you don't get enough oil into the box. I believe that it's worth jacking the car a bit on the side where the filler hole is when filling the gearbox. Someone with more technical know-how should be able to tell you if this is true and how much to tilt it.
 
the filler hole for the phase 1 is on the side of the gearbox
on the phase 2 (fly by wire model with ABS)) you can fill it at the same location or what you can do is fill it where the speed sensor is located

on the phase 2 (fly by wire model with ABS) the speed sensor is built into the ABS. the speed sensor hole in the gearbox is blanked off with a blanking plate.
