a few things

Right, just been out for the first time in my almera, only got taxed today and insured on wednesday.

anyhoo, i noticed a few wee things with it, these being:
  1. the dashboard lights seem to flash (the ones behind the speedo, rev counter etc) is this just a fault connection at the back and if so how do i get in to fix it? if not, any ideas?
  2. the speedo seems a bit off, me and my mum both thought we were doing about 50 when the speedo is reading 60, this may just be our imaginations but it may not, any ideas how to check it?

think thats it.

any help would me greatly appreciated :)

thanks
kieran

id say that too. why dont you check teh speedo against your mates, both drive at 40? or use a sat nav with gps speed, at 70 the sat nav will probably say 67 ish.

Do you not find it wierd that the lights are faulty and your speedo could be off, maybe a chance you 'mera has been clocked?

Just a though, but sounds most probably a loose connection!

hmm, never though of that, although mots and service history suggests otherwise so i reckon it's fine.

another thing is the seatbelts dont retract :)

Common fault on the almera i think. Just take the cover off and grease up the mechanism( i think) but do a search i think it's been covered before. Here

Was just my first thought. Sure it fine and just a loose wire.

You cant guess your speed! as said above check with a mate or gps. it will be a little out as everyones is.

it was just relative to other cars we've driven, although i've only been driving since october so maybe my judgement isnt the best :)

gona get my dad to drive infront of me at 50 or whatever and see what speed my cars telling me i'm doing.

its obviously got the wheels, which will change it a bit but they're 15" and same profile as standards so i dont think they would put it out that much.

best way would be not to drive behind someone, drive right next to someone then you can see if one car is pulling away much better.
