ABS light on

Hi guy's. Looking to buy an N15 GTi as a daily driver and i have my eye on one. Just a couple of easily sorted issues (discs and pads, clutch, missing front spoiler etc.) but it has 1 I'm not sure on. The ABS light came on the other day when I test drove it. I checked the fluid as the brakes were quite spongy (air in the system) but the level was fine.

Is there any common faults? Or is there a diagnostic I can do? I'm quite handy with the spanners so not afraid of getting stuck in.

TIA

Ivan

Mine's doing this at the minute...starting to think it's electrical as it doesn't come on when the car's warm. A few suggestions when I asked about mine were that it could just be dirty, give it a clean...or that they are sensitive to moisture and if the seals go it could make it do this.

It might also be because the discs and pads need doing...I think this might be what is causing mine to come on and the pads are worn unevenly basically giving 3 contact points, which I think is confusing the ABS sensor...these are all theories though, and they are quite costly to replace - definitely a scappy job if you want to avoid Nissan rip-off prices!

Good luck with the car though, you're relatively close to me, so will keep an eye out ;)

Also look out for a black 300zx mate. Thats my other car. I go to Melbourne quite regular as the missus lives there. Do you know how I find out which sensor is at fault? On a Zed there is a diagnostic process and the abs light flashes a certain number of times and that tells you what the problem is.

Ah yes Ed. He had a hand in my bro's Micra Turbo. I think that is for the engine mate not the brakes. I can do that on on the 300 to find the fault codes.

I know he did ;) I guessed it was you lol :)

Would the Consult cable provide the information possibly?

James.

On my Z32 you get the ecu and how many flashes the light on it makes depends what the problem is. Does anyone know how to do a diagnostic?

Ivan

Check your abs fuse also. Had a car that done this before and it was from the previous not replacing the fuse properly.

Do a search on here for the diagnostics code check
