ABS Sensor randomly not working then working

This is the first time this has ever happened...got in the car this morning and noticed that the ABS light hadn't gone off. Drove up the road and tried an emergency stop, and surprise surprise the ABS didn't work. Stopped the car, turned the engine off then restarted it, and the ABS light went off...and the ABS was working again...

Any idea why this might have happened? Also, the squealing noise is back again after I got rid of it ( :rasp: ) so wondering if it's got anything to do with that? The cars getting new pads fitted tonight, so going to see if that makes any difference...grrrrr.....

This happened again last night and this morning...I put the ignition on to 'number 2' i.e. so all the engine lights etc are lit, and the ABS light stays on instead of clicking off as normal. Turn the ignition off, then back to same place and it's fine - the light clicks off.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing it?

Ive had it happen to me once, i was thinking it was an expensive job to fix, but glad to find out next time i turned it over it was all ok

More than likely moisture fella... Quite sensitive to conditions once the seals around them have split, unfortunetly theres no way of checking them without taking them out, that ive found, which means if there weak then they'll defo be buggered by the time you've got them out the hubs.
Probably looking at a new sensor... check the breakers as they aint cheap. :(
