advancing my timing...?

got a strobe, want to advance my timing a little, whats a good degree, still maintaining good fuel consumption, and drivablilty, but giving a few ponies...? oh, and how difficult is this on an almera gti?!

there's one with a pic of the marks somewhere too telling you what mark is what degree etc...think you can expect something like a 3 - 4 whp gain.

Well if it's set at the standard 15, as rowdy says not much point in doing it. The ECU will probably kick it back down anyway if you advance it past this. But rumour has it that a lot of GTis come out of the factory with timing set at 13*...if it's set at this, I'd say advance to 17*
