Alarm?

Hi guy's. My N15 GTi has an alarm sounder under the bonnet but no remotes and I have to lock the doors with the 1 key I got when I bought the car. Does this mean it has an alarm? Or did they all come with a siren?

I think they all came with an alarm. But if you don't have any remotes at all, that means you need to get a master remote from nissan and that is going to be expensive.

CAT1 is another option Nissan is going to charge you a arm and a let for the other fob if they can do it

another option is to fine a GTi that has been smashed up and rip the alarm control box out of it and swap it for your one.

you will still need the fobs for that box though

well i didnt know they had an alarm...........

i just spent £272.50 on a cat 1 alarm and immob....

if you don't have any key fobs it a new alarm system i'm afraid and nissan charge more than what you paid, so it has worked out ok for you

if you do get a new control unit with master fob, is it just a case of replacing the control unit (which is under the front of the center console) by disconnecting battery, swap the unit and reconnect battery and everything will still work??

Will existing Keys still work in ignitioon or are they also registered in the control unit??

Good idea to be honest. Old alarms are 10+ years old so if it packs in, might aswel just get a new toad or similar. better on insyrance too in most cases.

funny you should say that made no difference to my insurance.

i have a laser line 291 i think it is, cat 1 alarm with 2 point immoboliser, i assume i also still have the nissan immob running as well so possibly 3 points????

i have an alarm siren under the bonnect of my n15 ph2 gti and both keys for the car. how can i test the siren too see if it still works........ please no one say smash a window and see haha

i tried to lock the car with my key, then with the window down half way, put my arm thru and open the door - howeva it was dead lock'd. i tried rocking the car, still no joy. the people passing must have thought what is that fool doing to his car lol

how can i test my alarm?
ps i have no remote fob

Locking the car with a key will not turn the alarm on, you need to use a remote.
The key has a imob build in which is 3 point. This works separately from the alarm control unit. If you change the alarm control unit you don't need to re-programme the keys.

Right. I have bought a master fob off ebay. Do you guy's think I could get it re-programmed to work with my car?

Oh and mera red gti you could try arming the alarm and unlock the door with the key and open the door - that might set it off.
