alloy lacquer/protector

reet lads, i'm getting thoroughly pissed off with the lip on my wheels getting pitted and oxidised within a day of a thorough clean.

I did put a normal metal lacquer on when i first stripped the paint off the lip but it's done sod all.

To get them clean now i have to use alloy cleaner, a scouring pad and sometimes wet n dry to get rid of the crap!

So what would people suggest? Don't say just waxing and washing all the time! :P

There must be some heavy duty metal lacquer type stuff out there?? Answers on a postcard pleeez.....:D

Lacquer is pourous so provides very little protection to bare metal, this doesn't really answer your question but it does answer why it's done fuck all.

i had the same troube with my FZR400, especialy during the winter months. wet and dry them back to bare metal wax them untill smothe then coate with WD40 just dont get it on the tires :) bad mistake.

you will probably have to do this every weekend...

for the sake of it just wack on a set of standard alloys on it for the winter.

what do you expect with bear metal, wd40 thats sounds dumb. it'll come off in the first rain fall...... no?
wet dry them agin, the paint in the same shade of silver then lacquer.

yeah cheers lads. even a varnish or summin i wondered.

i did expect it with bare metal :P - like you say, spraying the lip silver might be the best way.
