hello

i`ve been given a set of oz racing alloys with a pcd of 4x 100..but the problem im having is the center bore is smaller..can i get the bore increase at a wheel refurb place or would it be easier to get spigot rings?? but if i get spigot rings would i need to get longer studds..also how hard would it be to put new longer studds in??

The centre bore on what is smaller? The wheel or your car?

If the centre bore on the wheel is too big, then the sprigot rings will work. Personally I wouldn't bother with them - I drove about in my old Almera without them with no problem.

If the centre bore on the wheel is too small, then you'd need to get the wheel bored out, possibly weakening it. Did you mean wheel spacer - they're push the wheel out from the hub, but I don;t know if they'd push it out far enough to clear the problem. Also if you use wheel spacers, you may need longer studs.

First set of alloys I bought the shop forgot to include the spigot rings (I didn't know I needed them) and I had really dangerous judder above 50mph.
3 garages rebalanced my wheels to no avail until I did a bit of research online and worked out what was wrong and got the spigots sent - no problem after that.

Best bet is to get wheels with the correct bore, even then you may need spigots. The spigot rings are small plastic or metal rings that sit against the hub and center the wheel on the hub when the wheel's bore is a little too big, the hub still passes through the center hole on the wheel but the wheel rests on the spigot ring. I have never heard of spigot rings for a wheel that has too small a bore. (hope that's clear )

In this case though it sounds like the wheel bore is too small and you want to make the hole bigger (is your car 109 or 114 bore?) - I'd guess that's a very dodgy idea either way as it would be very hard to do accurately and could knacker the integrity of the wheel.

I got a set of OZ racing too and they fit fine. Have you made sure the centre bore holes dont have smaller spigot rings inside them. Did your wheels come off a Toyota?

My cars got spigot rings from a Clio which is 60mm instead of the Almera's 59mm. I asked Halfrauds if it mattered and they said no. But then again, its only 1mm with mine.

the alloy wheel center bore is smaller... tried them on but the hub wont go fully through so the bolts wont fully tighten on the thread?? i think they do come from a toyota but not sure he said they would fit an almera?? mabye it the new shape he meant?? as far as i can tell it doesn`t have any spigot rings in them but i was in a rush trying to fit them yesterday i never noticed gonna have a look tonight??

You could get them machined, but they have to be very careful to get the hole central. I bet yours just have the wrong spigots in them though.

ALWAYS use the correct spigot rings with aftermarket alloys, they`re dead cheap to buy.......otherwise you`ll get vibration and/or snapped wheel studs.

Yeah. It doesn't make sense for OZ to make 100pcd wheels with tiny bore holes. Their just making them harder to sell then. Hopefully its just some spigot rings in there that you haven't noticed...

better with the spacers, i have seen wheel nuts comming slack when a wheel fits the wheel stud holes but not the hub itself.

I wouldn't say spigot rings are required, they just make putting the wheels on easier on cars with wheel bolts rather than studs and nuts. The friction between the back of the wheel and the face of the hub with four tight nuts won't allow any movement. Tapered nuts will centre it properly too...

So have you found any smaller rings in the centres ??

sorry i havent been on lately damn broadband problems had to change provider for a more stable connection....anyway checked alloys definatly got no spigots in them...also noticed got suzuki stamped on the back....anyway been speaking to a couple of wheel refurb places and they have put me in touch with an alloy fabricator so i have to go there with the wheels and they will rebore the center to the correct size... gonna take my spare in with me and get them to measure that so they can get the exact measurement.
