Right then,

I have a set of 4 MG ZR 17inch alloys (straight spokes)

Will these fit on the Almera? I read some other posts and someone stated that anything with an offset between 35-45 (think thats wat was said) fits....

Brake Query:

As i only have drums on the rear axel ( sigh..... 1.4  )
Is it possible to convert the rear brake set up to Discs off the GTI ?

Thanks

The stud pattern is fine mate but the centre bore would be wrong as MG's run a 56.1 bore and almera's have a 59.1 so the wouldn't fit on the hubs.

Yeah you can put a gti rear axle on it, but as for how hard have no idea sorry chap

I've got a GTi rear axle (off the car, ready to go)

I'll be in York next weekend - could bring it up if you could come collect it

Hi mate,

Thats great stuff.. I'll get my dad to bring his trailer... How much you want for it ? :-)

Why would you wnna go there, it's boring

Remember to upgrade the front brakes considerably as they have to be better than the back, else you would spin the car when you put your foot on the brake (Handbrake style)

No way will you :rasp:

My GX had rear discs and the tiniest front discs you've ever seeen

Course, in the end I swapped them for 300mm two-piece discs and 4 pots and it stopped ..... well, just fine ;)

I like those MG wheels...........maybe a machine shop could enlarge the bore????

Wouldn't be that hard really as it is only needs to be 3mm bigger.

Other thing you could do is find a garge with a lave they could prob make some rings up that start at 56.1 then go to 59.1.

How much (Roughly  ) would it cost to do the work on the alloys ?
we talkin like £40 for all of em or each wheel ?

:D I'll have a drive around the garages tomorrow, day off work he he :D

Would a normal car service/repair garage have a lave or would it have to be a custom garage?

It's a lathe you need to ask for ;)

You'll struggle like hell to find anyone with the capability, let alone someone who's prepared to do the work :(

Spacers might work, but you'll have to seriously offset the wheels to clear the centre spigot

Best to find some 'replicas' (or different wheels)
