alloy wheels

will I have any problems if I put a set of wheels of an mg zs on my almera? i tried them for size the other day and the stud pattern was the safe but there was a bit of a lip on the wheel, would it be ok to file this off as it isnt a strenghtening part of the wheel and should cause no problems. any help appreciated.

p.s. my £15.00 membership form is on the way

You will need to check the following measurements on the MG wheels, the measurements you have to be the same as listed below:
PCD: 4 x 100
Offset: 35-40 (38 I believe is the ideal)
internal hub diameter: 51.9 (not 100% sure on this, I fitted my wheels yesterday, so can't remember the exact figure).

If the PCD is wrong they wont go onto the bolts, if the offset is wrong the wheel will be too far or too close to the hub/brake. If the hub diameter is different then you will get vibration if its slightly out, or serious jolting if its well out.

You're pretty much there - if they're a semi-permanent idea, might be worth trying to source some spigot rings to reduce the counterbore (they help centre the wheel to stop vibration)

Other than that, can't see any problems at all

Wouldn't advise filing anything off the wheel though, at best you'll screw up the balancing and/or start corrosion .... at worst that bit you thought wasn't stregthening actually keeps the wheel together :(

You will need to find a set to match the Ouside and Inside diameter of the wheel and your hub.

Just checked the hub figures for the Almera vs. the MG and by rights these shouldn't go on

The hub on the Almera should be too big to fit the counterbore on the MG wheels

If they've gone on ok though, might be worth nipping down to a machine shop (if you've got an industrial estate nearby) and getting them to mic' up the hub and bore on the wheel and turn some rings to fit

hmmm, i'll have to try them again some time, but if i remember correctly i'm sure they fitted. thanks for evrybodys help. i will let u know how i get on
