am looking at alloys on the net and was wondering whether its a better idea to get alloys before my servicing and MOT or afterwards, or does it not matter?

get them after just to make sure they dont get damaged by the garage. doesnt really make any difference though

buy them, put them in car and tell garage to chuck the new alloys on after the MOT, saves you the hassle of doing it yourself and doing it after just makes sure they won't be scuffed

Mine was serviced last Saturday, so has got the steelies back on @ the mo, as I didn`t want the alloys or the special nuts getting damaged by the garage (because the key seems to fit if you put it in upside down, but jumps out & screws up the nut when you go to turn it  ) & it makes cleaning them much easier when they`re off the car & on a Black & Decker Workmate! :D ;)

Agreed, if you don't trust your garage totally it's good to get them off before they start mucking about with the car. If taking the wheels off for each service/MOT it's as good a time as any to rotate the wheels round the car, too.

OR if your tyres are looking a bit low- may be a good idea to fit alloys before hand to avoid a FAiL ;)
