Alloys Help...

Hello one and all,

I'm about to head out and get some new alloys, I've seen a couple I like standard on other cars, I'm just wondering whether they'll fit on my N15...

What I have in mind is the 17" multispokes fitted to MG ZR's, they run on a 205/45/17 tyre, and the almera's suggested size for a 17" tyre is 205/40/17, will this missing '5' make a massive problem?

I'm afraid tyres fall far beyond my expertise, and would be very grateful for anyone's input.

Also, if anyone can recommend any decent standard (to other cars) 16/17s that would look good on my alaska blue N15, feel free to suggest them and they'll be taken under advisement.

THANKS.

hello mate yeah the tyres will be fine the 45 means how big the sidewall it ie. a 40 will have less sidewall than a 45 the only problem you might have is that 205/45/17 tyres will cost more to replace than 205/40/17

to be honest mate, it'd be much easier gettin an after market alloy that looks similar to what you want.

i think the zr rims would fit, i'm sure they're 4 x 100 fitment, not sure on the bore tho.

it's the pcd, bore and stud number you need to get right. tre size isn't really important , they can be changed and the N15 will take up to 18" rims fairly easily>

pcd (pitch circle diameter) is the distance (mm) between the centre of opposing studs. the n15 is 100mm (same as zr i think). but many other manufcturers use different pcd's so many other standard rims won't fit. i think honda, vw possibly use 4 x 100 also.

the only thing with zr rims is the bore may be different (the actual hole in the middle of the wheel) if its too big you could get spigot rings to adapt the size down. if it's too small, you can't use the zr rims.

you'd be best checking pcd's etc on a website that sells alloys, buut like i said, aftermarket alloys would be a lot easier to come by.

thanks for the fast responses, very helpful.

I've checked a listing site, and the bore on an N15 is 56.1, and 66.1 on an MGZR. I guess that makes it a no then?

I've found a set in sunderland and everything, have to go up to pick up our lass's new wheels, a Toyota Yaris T-Sport thats been modded up by Envy Performance, I look forward to making it go sideways with her in the passenger seat. Thiink I'll have to keep searching.. :(

it means the centre hole on the zr is smaller than the mera so no they wont fit unless u know someone that could machine the hole out bigger

ZR rims might not fit afterall chap, cuz purely from memory ive seen them on EK and EG civics in the past and i think im right in saying their 114.4PCD
