Hi all,
First time on here, purchaced a 2.2 dci last week with only 22000 miles on it, all stamped-up.
Very impressed so far but would like to ask a couple of questions please.

1. Are there any known major problems with the 2.2 engine (Renault?).
2. The turbo seems to whistle when accelerating...is this usual?
3. Lastly, when starting from cold it rattles more than any other diesel i`ve had in the first couple of minutes....all fluids are fine.

I know the turbo and the SCV are common issues, but I'm sure someone with more experience will explain more.

I thought my DCi had the lowest mileage possible at 34k when I bought it last year lol. Anywho as Hally's mentioned above the turbo is the main issue with the DCi, mine also used to make the whistle but when turbo was removed & put back on with new gaskets was fine no play in the turbo mind you, but as these turbos are known to fail do have tendencies to whistle some louder then others & with boost leak/wind apparent sounds too.

The scv is another common fault, my engine is quite noisy too but it's the pulleys that make the clattering sounds I sprayed a little wd40 on the belts & it's quitened down, but only lasts a week to get to the bottom of it best to change the belts.

Hi not worried too much....well I shouldn`t at 22000 miles!! Probably a sense or paranoia creeping in from what I`ve been reading elsewhere!! Is there any truth in the Renault engine theory??
I`m very pleased with it though...pulls very hard!!

It's not Renault, it's Nissan. The 2.0L and 1.5L DCi is Renault, but not the 2.2.
