Almera 2005 N16 1.5 high idleo

Hi i bought my n16 2005 1.5 almera recently which wouldnt rev up and had absolutely no power. I had the throttle body off to clean and check as I was figuring out what was up with it which turned out to be a blocked cat which has now been replaced and the car will now rev freely but the problem is a high idle speed of about 1200 rpm which is causing bad fuel consumption around 32 miles for £10, my 2.0 golf gti was more economical. I took the throttle body off again and cleaned it and lubricated the flap but its still the same. Now i'm reading that these need to be reprogrammed when they are removed/cleaned but the posts i have read on the internet are for the 1.8 and also a similar method of reprograming for a usa nissan altima with the same high idle problem. Is the programming method the same for both the 1.5 and the 1.8 pressing pedal and turning ignition on and off in a certain sequence?

Try the pedal shuffle method of resetting the idle (/throttle position) see if the engine lights respond and if it makes a difference?

Tried this several times, it didn't work. I disconnected the battery overnight which reset the ecu and cured the problem

you beat me to it,i was going to suggest it when you first posted, but wasn't positive about the 1.5 . now you need to check the o2 + maf +engine temp sensors to make sure there ok. a dodgy sensor may be effecting your ecu's fuel trims, which over a long time may contribute to a high idle.i'd focus on the o2 one first if you've had a blocked cat,and bad economy.
