Almera Dci Turbo fault - Agai

Hi, following a previous thread about my 2004 Dci that I purchased from a small dealer about a month or so ago... The turbo failed which was replaced by the dealers local garage.. but a few days ao wandering down the M6 motorway I had the same issue ie no turbo and no power at all, had to crall home between 30-50mph.. not good. Turbo isnt engaging at all, but following leaving it overnight it was fine next day so must have reset itself ? Not sure what it is this time, pressure regulater, valvs or ?
Im going to take it to his garaga again but not easy as 50+mile round trip... The dealer is relatively wiling to help but may not pay for the fault this time, depends on the ££'s
Any suggestions ?

Sorry to hear that mate, far from ideal! I know you don't want to hear this but (as posted on your previous thread)...

Only issue with these cars though is the turbo, so once that's sorted itll be solid Japan reliability again :-)

Hybrid turbo will be worth doing i you can. Direct bolt on and no modifications or remap is required to run it.

If it really is the turbo again and not the fuel system or something (SCV ? Sometimes worth replacing), then give Turbo Technics a call.

Since this happened it has happened once more and the tick over is even more erratic and it hunts quite a lot. After reading several forum postings is does seem to suggest that it is going to be a problem with a valve, sensor of some sort ie suction control valve. The dealer has agreed to go halves so I have called my local Nissan garage who have advised that they arent sure what it will be and seemed oblivious to this being quite a common issues on the Mera's. I have to take it in to them, pay £70+ to get it tested on their fault reader and then we go from there.. So I aim to take it in next week and have over good money for them to go yes erm broken and see what happens next. At the moment I wish Id have bought a Honda.

Yup as above, SCV (suction control valve). Easy to replace yourself followed by an ECU/fuel pump reset.

Hrm. If the SCV is sorted and a hybrid turbo bought, they'd be no reason to sell this on now as it'll be solid. Shame the turbo and SCV went all at once and so soon after buying for this member. I guess that would put anyone off.

Bargain to be had though here, and a rare model.

I never knew it had had problems until i joined and read thru a few post, quite weird finding a link to the ad i found which led to me buying the car, with the car came a receipt for a turbo in march and a suction control valve in april, not to bothered what 9 year old car hasn't see a few spanners, runs sweet now so i guess i will see. ;)

Thanks shes a beauty, upgrade from my W reg 1.5E which was my first nissan, i picked it up just as a runabout during an out of work period and 2 years later it still looked and ran like the day i got it, hense getting another but with better spec and a facelift, all my other cars have been "cough" fords lol. guess ill get round to the membership soon as i have no plans on getting rid and mite need the advice of the technical sections.

Hello & welcome to the AOC,

I saw this on eBay looks like a gem, shame about the issues the previous owner had but at least it been fixed now. If theirs 1 thing you need to do it is becomoming a paid member seriously. Everything you need to know is there. You won't regret it I promise. Do you have any plans of what you might be doing to her..?

thanks, only thing i will be doing is driving and cleaning it, ive had 30 years of tuning and styling my cars prob spent enough to own a DB9 lol, now my tuning money is going on holidays somewhere warm, mite take the towbar off or get an O'Neil sticker for the back so the chicks think ive got a jet ski haha. heres my last tuned car, ok so its a ford but when a car looks good it looks good regardless of its make, spent more than the new cost of the car on tuning/styling at Noble Motorsport.

I mean Imperial Blue, lovely colour when looked after and kept polished.Rover nightfire red was another good colour-just a shame they sprayed it on shit as nissan did with mystic green paint.
