Almera GTi vibrations?

Hi, I got a 1999 Almera GTi, with 4 new rims and tires. My problem is that when I reach 40mph and above I get vibrations in the steering wheel, I have changed the brake discs in front and the vibrations are still there, changed into my 15 inch rims no difference, checked the front suspensions and bearings etc, did not find anything. Could it be the front brake calipers or driveshafts?

Got any ideas?

Kind Regards,

AEZ rims and Continental SportContact 2.

lots more info needed.

when did it first occur? does it get worse as speed increases ?
your new wheels PROPERLY balanced with cbl's?
the 15" rims you tried, what tyres did they have? the same tyres? old tyres? did they shake before?
have you tried another wheel balance at a different tyre shop? with both sets of rims?

steering wheel shake is generally front wheels out of balance, but could be a variety of different things. dodgy hubs, bad wheel bearings, shagged tie-rod ends, maybe binding brakes, maybe a rooted cv.

if your using the conti's, there a quality tyre, should be no drama's there. some are some chinese tyres that are trash, and can cause balance problems.

this was the problem with mine, i had the exact same symptoms, ideal solution replace tie rod ends (ebay) and get it tracked up (approx £20 from most garages) or maybe play in lower ball joints or knackered wishbone bushes, imo replace wishbones they sell the complete lot ie wishbones with fitted bushes and ball joints as a set for around £50 (pair)
so (if you tackle it yourself because its childsplay to do these bits) for around £100 spondlicks it "should" sort it out well hopefully as said above it cound be a number of things but check these bits anyway
